Advanced Open Water
$665 per person
If you’re thinking of doing five dives or more while you’re here and you’re not already Advanced certified, we highly recommend that you go for it! Doing your Advanced will open up a lot more dive sites for you, including some of our famous shark channels. Fulidhoo has a range of dive sites that lend themselves perfectly to the different adventure dives that make up the course.
The Advanced course is made up of five dives, five knowledge reviews but no exam. There are two obligatory dives: Deep Diver and Underwater Navigator, and the other three you can choose from a number of options. Good ones to do here are: Drift Diver, Fish ID, Night, Underwater Naturalist, and Peak Performance Buoyancy.
As the Navigator dive is all about compass work, this is done in the lagoon but the other 4 dives are conducted on the normal scheduled boat dives.
The course is normally done over 2.5 days.
If you’re planning on doing the Alimatha night dive during your stay, (which of course you should!) we don’t recommend doing it as part of the course as it’s not a great environment for a training dive. So we recommend adding this onto your package – contact us for more details about this.
All our packages are completely customizable and we can add on extra days, dives and excursions depending on what you and any travel buddy might be looking for. The best thing to do is to contact us with your rough travel dates once you have a package in mind. Accommodation rates will vary depending on what time of year you come. Prices mentioned here are the starting prices, in low season, based on 2 people sharing the room.

Destination
Day 1: Arrival, check-in and orientation
All courses will be conducted slightly differently depending on a number of factors: the weekly schedule, how comfortable you are in the water, the weather and so forth. But here is a sample itinerary of how your course might be conducted.
If you are arriving by speedboat, you will arrive around midday. We will greet you from the jetty and escort you to your guesthouse where we will have a quick chat and brief you about the island and answer any questions you may have. You’ll check in to your room and then the guesthouse manager will give you a short island orientation. As most guests choose the half board option, which starts with dinner on the first day, we can explain the options for grabbing lunch. Most choose to eat in the local café on the first day. In the afternoon you can drop by the dive center to fill in paperwork, get sized up for gear and pick up your PADI manual. The rest of the day will be spent reading under a palm tree.
Day 2:
Depending on when you last dived, and how many dives you have logged, today you might start with two dives in the morning, including the PADI Adventure Deep Dive. You’ll then have time in the afternoon to continue reading the course materials and to complete the remaining knowledge reviews.
Day 3:
On your second full day in Fulidhoo, we will aim for you to complete the course. You’ll do two adventure dives in the morning, which ones you choose will be up to you. Then in the afternoon you’ll complete the obligatory Navigation dive in the lagoon.
Day 4:
What you do on your last full day will depend on whether you opt to add on any extras to your package. You could do some extra fun dives, the Alimatha night dive, or just relax at the beach.
Day 5:
Today you’ll be departing from the island. Depending on whether you have a flight or whether you’ll be staying in Male’ for an early morning departure the next day, we’ll arrange the right transfer for you.
Depending on the schedule of the dive centre that week, it might be that we organize your dives slightly differently, especially the Alimatha night dive, as we only offer this about twice a week.

For our package accommodation, we work with several guesthouses in Fulidhoo that we are extremely happy to recommend. The best thing to do is to get in touch with your tentative dates and we’ll check availability on the island. Depending on your budget and what you’re looking for, we’ll put together a package with the guesthouse that we think is right for you. Whether you’re looking for a sea view room, somewhere with great veggie food, a quieter location or even a family room – we can find the right place for you.
