Rescue & Dive

$1699 per person

Rescue is an absolutely fantastic course and many PADI instructors cite it as their favourite. You learn incredible skills that prepare you to deal for when things go wrong. At the end of the course, you’ll feel more equipped to deal with an emergency situation, such as an unresponsive, panicked or lost diver.

In order to embark on the PADI Rescue course, you must be a certified Emergency First Responder, having gained your certification with the last two year, which is why we’ve included this course in the package as well (but if you’ve already completed it, just get in touch and we’ll customise the package for you.)

As most of the Rescue scenarios and training sessions are conducted in the lagoon during the afternoon, we’ve also included ten fun dives in the Rescue package as you wouldn’t want to miss out on all the amazing morning dives!

All our packages are completely customizable and we can add on extra days, dives and excursions depending on what you and any travel buddy might be looking for. The best thing to do is to contact us with your rough travel dates once you have a package in mind. Accommodation rates will vary depending on what time of year you come. Prices mentioned here are the starting prices, in low season, based on 2 people sharing the room.

Day 1: Arrival, check-in and orientation

All courses will be conducted slightly differently depending on a number of factors: the weekly schedule, how comfortable you are in the water, how quickly you pick up the confined water skills, the weather and so forth. But here is a sample itinerary of how your course might be conducted.

If you are arriving by speedboat, you will arrive around midday. We will greet you from the jetty and escort you to your guesthouse where we will have a quick chat and brief you about the island and answer any questions you may have. You’ll check in to your room and then the guesthouse manager will give you a short island orientation. As most guests choose the half board option, which starts with dinner on the first day, we can explain the options for grabbing lunch. Most choose to eat in the local café on the first day. After lunch, you can drop by the dive center to fill in paperwork, get sized up for gear and pick up your ERF and PADI Rescue manual. The rest of the day you'll do indepent study - maybe under a palm tree or on the beach!

Day 2:

This morning, as we know you’ll be itching to get in the water, we’ll start the day the best way – with a two-tank dive trip! After lunch in the afternoon, you’ll watch the EFR videos and complete the corresponding knowledge reviews and exam.

3
Day 3:

Again this morning, you can go for two dives and after lunch you’ll start your EFR practical sessions, where you will learn things such as how to assess the scene of an accident, barrier use, CPR and how to respond to a choking adult.

4
Day 4:

This morning you can skip the dives and have time for independent study for the Rescue theory, including watching the videos. In the afternoon, you will complete the EFR practical session where you will learn secondary care, such as splinting, bandaging and how to conduct an injury assessment

5
Day 5:

You’ll be bank in the water this morning with two morning dives and then in the afternoon you’ll begin your PADI Rescue diver training with rescue exercises in the lagoon.

6
Day 6:

Again, you’ll have the morning off diving to complete all knowledge reviews and sit the Rescue exam. If you have already completed the knowledge reviews, you could always join the dives if you wanted, or you could have a relaxing morning.
In the afternoon, you’ll continue with another practical session in the lagoon.

Throughout the evenings of your stay, you will be expected to work on your Emergency Assistance Plan.

7
Day 7:

After two dives this morning, you will do your final Rescue practical session in the afternoon.

8
Day 8:

Two dives in the morning and then today you will be assessed on your final Rescue Scenarios.

9
Day 9:

Today you’ll be departing from the island. Depending on whether you have a flight or whether you’ll be staying in Male’ for an early morning departure the next day, we’ll arrange the right transfer for you.

It might be that you complete the course in a slightly different way, depending on the weekly schedule.
